Fairy Meadows

Fairy Meadows -- basecamp for the Lotus Flower Tower

Latest News: Summer '09

August 3rd- I'm off to The Alps for a few weeks with a strong team (Ben Bransby, James MacHaffie and Jvan Tresch) to try a hard route on Mont Blanc's Grand Capucin.

I'll likely be offline, but any updates will be posted on the blog, and I'll follow up any print orders when I get back.

May - I've had a new blog online for a little while now, which will be seeing much more frequent updates than this page. Its at http://adamlong.blogspot.com/

I'm also working on a big website re-vamp - so far I'm happy with the basic layout and am working on the gallery format, and then its just the spadework on the content. I'm trying to keep the same basic design whilst making the code a lot more modern. I've got a busy summer coming up so am planning to launch in the autumn. In the meantime you can have a sneak preview here. Any feedback welcome.

March - The Depot - Leeds - new gallery space.

Leeds has a smart new bouldering wall, and I'm currently exhibiting a bunch of climbing and landscape pics in the cafe. All the pictures are available in different sizes or format via the website.

Slackjaw's long awaited film HardXS is out now, featuring my photo of Sam Whittaker on the cover. Its one of my all time favourite climbing images so its great to see it in print again. See a full, uncropped version in the galleries here. Oh, and the film is fantastic too!
Canvas prints are now available with a black stained pine border in addition to the internal stretcher frame. I'm really pleased with the look of these as its a big improvement on the bare canvases and costs very little extra. Check the Printshop for more info.
If you're in Hathersage, check out Outside's new shop. They've had a couple of my shots blown up really big to decorate the walls and they're well worth a look.

The new JMT yearbook, is on sale now, featuring superb photography from the likes of Joe Cornish, Laurie Campbell, and yours truly.

BMC Stanage guide

The new climbing film Committed has just premiered, and amongst a slew of cutting edge ascents my recent effort on The Angel's Share has crept in. More info and trailer here

Out now: - The new BMC Stanage guide. Well I might not have taken the cover photo this time, but the image used is some consolation! Lots of my photos are featured inside - I'm particularly pleased with the opening spread - plus I wrote the Plantation bouldering section.

Reviews so far have been great - my favourite comment so far has been: "well its deeply indulgent, but then thats exactly what it deserves"

BASE

Dec '06 > - just spent a mad week in Arco, Italy with porfessional lunatics Leo Houlding and Tim Emmett. Along with filmmaker Ben Pritchard I was documenting the latest development in extreme mountaineering called Para-Alpinism. The plan being to do away with abseiling via BASE jumping...

After a few practice jumps we climbed the incredible 900m wall of Monte Brento, (which overhangs 100m!) spending two nights on portaledges. Great fun - look out for an article in July's Climb magazine..
